Week 15 Reading Reflection

1) I really did enjoy this article more than most of the other ones we have read, but I did find it interesting how this person was able to earn a profit from micro finance loans. Even more so that he did this all while working at the bottom of a pyramid. Pretty nifty I think.

2) I found it a bit confusing that he didn't give into the thugs, yet still left the area.. Those are not the same things...

3) One question I would like to ask is how did you get this PR ad in the HBR?
and the other would be, If you could some up everything that you learned here, what would you say was the most important?

4) There was nothing really here that I could disagree on, it was an article of experience and have nothing ill to say about it.

Final Reflection

1)....... Just going through all my posts and such

2) I honestly think the funnest thing I did would qualify as the one that helped me the most as well as the one I'll remember the most, and that was lurking about in the parking garage with a couple other people from this class as we tried to find people that we could interview, that was pretty fun and helped me get over my fears of approaching random people and asking if I could record them and ask them stuff.

3) I do think I have developed more of an entrepreneurial mindset, I find myself noticing flaws in business on the television, and im constantly trying to come up with new ways to fix things around my house, and honestly I think my weird ideas kind of baffle my friends and family.

4) In order to do well in this course, one must be open to thinking outside of the box and not be afraid of what the future holds. Just constantly try your best and seek out all opportunities that will lead you to a more fulfilling life. Also do all of the assignments, no matter how dumb you may think they are, it'll help a lot grade wise.

Elevator Pitch No. 4

Okkie Dokkie, so I am not going to lie I am glad this is the last elevator Pitch. I still have not mastered it, I still feel awkward in front of the camera, I don't look into the camera that often, and I trip over my words. But all that aside I think I did better this time around with those things. I know it is not perfect, but I have improved a little bit, in my opinion.

Venture Concept No. 2

Opportunity

I currently live in Florida, as I have for much of my life, and one of the main problems I find in getting ready for the day here is that the temperature is severely bipolar. It can be very cold in the mornings causing you to need a sweater, then four hours later you’re sweating because you wore too thick of clothing and it is not 20 degrees warmer. Now my main focus would be Floridians, but throughout my travels I have realized that this is a popular phenomenon in other various places around the world as well. I would be able to focus on students in the University of Florida area at first, because I know they are going through the same things I am, because most have said so. Most people are just ignoring this need and they dress for the warmer part of the day and suffer through the colder parts, or they will do the reverse and dress warm then end up all sweaty at the end of the day. I think that this window will be open for pretty much as long as humans exist. It may not be in the same place, but it is an inevitable part of life on this planet. Most of the time people just use easier to remove sweaters to keep warm and just take it off when they are no longer cold. I don’t think that they are too loyal to this system, and with time and seeing this product I think I could bring them over to my side!

Innovation

I would be able to develop a clothing line that would keep you comfortable throughout the day, while also being attractive and keeping up with today’s fashion needs. It is important to be comfortable throughout the day, and having clothing that will regulate your body temperature as the day goes on would only make life that much easier. I would start off with just shirts, and if that worked out I could branch off of that and actually develop a brand for myself. I would need to come up with a cool symbol of some kind in order to make marketing that much easier. I feel like I would be able to see this for about the same amounts that the big sport companies sell their clothes. I would at first make it less expensive so I could gain popularity, but then I would be able to also create shoes and other accessories that would be beneficial and could sell them for the same amounts as well. Having this type of clothing would not only prove useful to public populations, but the technology could be used in other parts world, and who knows maybe the government would find a nifty use for it!

Venture Concept

The use of this product will make getting ready in the mornings for school or whatever a much less difficult task and people will have a lot less to worry about. I think that customers would buy this because they don’t like fighting the elements, and it really does just make the whole getting ready in the mornings process a whole lot simpler. Like I said earlier it is very important to stay comfortable throughout the day! My competitors would be fishing companies who sell thermal shirts to fishermen, as well as maybe Nike and Reebok. Even though these are pretty great companies I don’t think it would be too difficult to convert them. They will see the benefits and be all for it! Customers will see this new item and be impressed with how useful it is, but also how well it looks because I intend to try to keep with some styles of fashion. I would start this business concept in Gainesville because I know there are a lot of people here who would be willing to try out the product, and after that then maybe could see about spreading to other parts of Florida. And if all that succeeds we could maybe go for the West and maybe branch out into different countries. At the start of the company I do not see much need for a website and being able to ship things in packaging, but after the spread works out then I can see how it would in fact be necessary. With a wider knowledge of the product online more cities are bound to want one and that would definitely help the spread of the company. The number of employees would at first be a smaller number, but naturally with more stores and larger stores more employees would become necessary. I would pay employees based on the stereotypical “the higher up you are the more money you get” with equal opportunity for everyone to reach higher statuses in my company.

Three Minor Elements

First I think my most important resources are my friends and family. Some of them actually know about this kind of technology, while others even own their own businesses. So no matter what I do I will always have someone there helping me go through whatever it is that I have got to go though, so that is pretty cool in my personal opinion. Like I kind of mentioned earlier the next thing for my concept would be adding different types of clothing and maybe even some nifty shoes that kind of go with my idea. The possibilities are endless. I will probably ask customers though what they think should be next, it’d be good to get their opinions f they are going to be buying the stuff.
In all honesty I am not sure what is next for me, I am a take time as it goes kind of person. I will always keep going on with life and I will always overcome any troubles that are in my way. That is a good thing right?

I did have some comments on my post last time that I am not entirely sure how to answer, but I did my best in order to change what needed to be change by clearing up my ideas a bit more. I was able to give a bit clearer idea than what I said last time, and I kept with my style because people commented that they liked it.

Week 14 Reading Reflection

1) I was a bit surprised by the model of corporate entrepreneurship strategy. I did not expect it to be so much and such complex stuff. It is a very precise process that is occurring, and I had no idea it existed.

2) The one thing I found a bit confusing was nepotism. Like I know people do it, but like isn't it frowned upon... I don't know I found it to be curious.

3) Question two makes way to the first question I have and that is, Is nepotism even legal?
The other is, with all of this we have learned in all of these chapters, what is the most important thing in all about being an entrepreneur?

4) I still do not find myself disagreeing with anything the author is saying here, and well that is clearly because I am nowhere near being a professional about this stuff, while they are enough of professionals to actually write a book about the stuff.

Google Gold

1) I think that all of my posts were fairly simple, and I used keywords that people might search if they were looking for something that I posted. I didn't use super extreme words just the simple to the point words.

2) I suppose I kind of answered this earlier in question one. But another thing I suppose I have done is the use of my name... It is a little weird but apparently my name on my blog, when googled, I am the first picture. So I guess that is kind of weird but neat at the same time.

3) I did not really use social media with my blog, I guess it never really occurred to me. The only thing I did was post everything to my google plus account and that has received over eighteen thousand views, so I guess they have seen my posts and that is pretty neat.

4) I think that my elevator pitch posts received the most traffic. I got quite a few views on YouTube, and a good bit of feedback on those posts. I think that YouTube is the only reason it got the most views.

5) All of my accounts I have open to the public were on the first page of google. Those would include my blog account for this class, ifunny, Instagram, and my google account. All I had to do was google either my name or my account name, both showed up pretty much the same results. The only thing that was different was that the pages were in different places on the first page of google.

Very Short Interview Part 2

Unfortunately, I am unable to find the blog for this first assignment, I know I did it because I vaguely remember it, so I will be trying my best to recall everything I did the first time in order to improve this assignment.

1) In the beginning I probably would have been very nervous with my questions and interview processes, but I do believe I have improved on that quite a bit so hopefully this time around It'll be better.

2) So I went and visited the person I think I remember interviewing before, because it was close to home, and figured it would be easy, but alas the actual owner of the business was not 100% sure how to answer the questions I was asking, so he referred me to his secretary who dealt with everything on a more extended level than the actual owner. This women did not want to be recorded so I took notes on what she was saying.
        1) How does one go about controlling the aspects of business within the business such as getting the materials, selling, and paying employees?
-She did not want to give me specific numbers, and I totally understand that, but she said employees are paid by how much they work, how well they work, and how much the material is that they are working with. So all in all everything adds up and everyone is getting a piece of everything.
         2) Why are you in charge of all the business stuff and the boss pretty much id just the "Boss"?
                      - She told me that he was good at ideas, but was too distracted and would begin thinking of other ideas, and should not necessarily be trusted with all aspects of the company. She then related it to Penny in the Iron Man films and I totally get that.
         3) Do you enjoy working with an entrepreneur?
                      - She told me she loved it. She said there is never a dull moment in the work place and ideas are constantly moving back and forth.

3) And well I don't know if they thought I had progressed within this class or not, but they were interested in the questions I asked. I asked more questions depending on answers but these were my main three that I genuinely just wanted to know the answers to.

Celebrating Failure

1) I was very determined to go to every single one of my classes this semester, but then late nights started happening, several papers would be do on the same days, and then I would sleep in, resulting in me regularly missing my first class of the day. I would set alarms early enough for me to get up and get ready in time to make it to class, but alas I still sleep through my alarms.

2) Through this I have learned that in order to succeed and not suck at going to class, I must properly space out my assignments in order to get enough sleep and make it to classes on time so that I have a better chance of doing well in the class.

3) I wouldn't call failure embarrassing because well everyone does it, but it can be easily gotten over. It is difficult to forgive yourself for it though. It stresses you out, but you still have to fight through and keep trying until you believe yourself successful enough to move on with life. This class hasn't really changed the way I think about failure, but more promoted and made me realize I do it right. Like I said in one of my past assignments I just kind of do, and if it doesn't work out I move on with another idea, I think I am pretty mellow when it comes to stuff like that.Image result for failure

Week 13 Reading Reflection

1) I was fairly surprised to read about trying to evaluate companies and place values and stuff on them. They are able to determine what is good and bad about said business, I thought that was kind of neat.

2) I did not find anything in this chapter that confused me, everything was pretty simple and easily explained in this chapter.

3) How important is it to "evaluate" a business in the right way?
If you could summarize this chapter into the most important details what would you say?

4) I still do not find anything wrong with these chapters, the author is a professional where I most certainly am not and well how can I argue with that.

My Exit Strategy

1) Personally I am a more of a "take life as it goes" kind of person, but if I did have a plan for the future, I would what my company to be successful so I could keep it in the family forever or at least until someone in my family sold it or something. I mean I'd still be pretty happy as long as it succeeded for the most part and life was good.

2) Well I mean I guess I kind of explained it above, but I would want to be successful and give my family the option to farther the business after me.

3) I feel like my views and this exit strategy kind of depict who I am as well as how I am going about my business. I am a fairly dedicated and determined human being, but I am also fairly mellow so when things don't go as planned I can typically deal with it and work off of it. I don't know, kind of odd but I can see how this attitude is reflected in both my strategy as well as everything else involved in my business plan.

Week 12 Reading Reflection

1) I found the SWOT concept to be fairly intriguing, I had never heard of it so it was kind of a new neat surprising tidbit of information.

2) The idea of uncontrollable failure was a bit confusing to me, but throughout the reading I think I have a better understanding of it.

3) Do you agree with everything in this chapter? and If you could tell me all of the most important details in what sentence what would you tell me?

4) I did not really agree or disagree with anything here, it is a text book so I just kind of take it as fact, but pretty okay reading for the most part.
